The Washington State Military Department has several major operational divisions:
- Emergency Management
- Army National Guard
- Air National Guard
- State Guard
- Washington Youth Academy
- State & Federal Support Services
These divisions utilize state and federal resources to perform homeland defense, homeland security as well as emergency mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery activities. The Department has a strong culture of service.
We protect the residents of Washington, their property and the environment on a 24-hour basis and to provide trained military units in support of civil authorities for domestic emergencies and in support of federal combatant commanders for national defense and homeland security missions.
Our mission statement: Provide trained professionals and operational forces who are ready to defend our state and nation, respond to emergencies and disasters and by enhancing resiliency in communities through structured alternative education opportunities for at-risk youth.
